Knowledge is Power

Not only is it important to research the dropzone, but scheduling your tandem skydiving experience at Skydive San Diego will help you answer any questions you may have before your jump. In addition, as the best skydiving in Southern California, we can teach you about each step in the skydiving process.
Once checked in, tandem jumpers will be briefed on what to expect during the process. You’ll have many opportunities to ask questions to your instructor. Ask them details about the skydiving equipment. From the parachute/reserve parachute system, how the harness works and more. You might find yourself more confident during your tandem jump experience with more information.

Skip the Caffeine

Jumping out of a plane is a lot of adrenaline already, so you might consider skipping the coffee or energy drink in the morning of your tandem skydive. Anxiousness and caffeine aren’t fun to mix. So instead of reaching for caffeine, we recommend moving your body to get the blood pumping. Whether you’re performing a mindful exercise like yoga heading for a surf in the morning to simply walking your dog – all of these are great options to get you going the morning before.

Mentally Prepare for Your Tandem Jump

Try breaking down your experience into manageable steps. Start on how you’re preparing the night before by getting to bed early and getting a total of eight hours of sleep, wake up and give yourself enough time to eat a light breakfast, dress in comfortable athletic wear, and do your hair appropriately.

Then once you arrive at the dropzone and check-in, practice some breathing exercises that calm your nervous system while you wait to be harnessed. As you complete each small step, you’ll feel more accomplished and ready to jump!
A breathing exercise that’s quick and effective is called the “Box Breathing Method,” you breathe in for four seconds, hold your breath for four seconds, and breathe out for four seconds. Repeat this at least three times and you’ll find yourself instantly more calm and relaxed.
